VA Expands EHR Deployment to Additional Medical Centers in 2026

Facilities in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Alaska to adopt the integrated system to improve care coordination and patient services.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced it will deploy the Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR) system at nine additional medical centers and their associated clinics in 2026. The facilities in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Alaska were chosen after planning sessions involving the Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office, local medical leaders, clinicians, and Oracle Health.

The Federal EHR system is already used by the Department of Defense to enhance care coordination, patient safety, and customer service through integrated data sharing across agencies. This expansion follows a December 2024 announcement that four VA sites in Michigan will also go live with the system in 2026. A total of 13 VA facilities are slated to adopt the EHR next year as part of a larger modernization effort, with full nationwide implementation anticipated by 2031.

VA Secretary Doug Collins said that this “modern medical record system… will result in improvements to care, coordination and convenience. The Federal EHR is integrated across all VA and Department of Defense components, enabling seamless data exchange while enhancing care, safety, and customer service for patients.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Collins to be led by God as he manages the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • For VA administrators as they work on the deployment of the Electronic Health Record system.
  • For VA employees as they provide health care for American veterans.
